Last Thursday, August 11th, Ben Alemu (COO of SENDforC) published an article in the UC Student Association's Graduate Policy Journal, Vol. 2. This journal offers articles written by students who "have offered a vision for improving graduate education in the UC" (source). In his article, SENDforC Initiative: Developing Linkages to Scaffold Underserved Communities in K-12 STEM Education, Ben strives to illuminate the issues K-12 students have with gaining opportunities that further their education outside of the classroom, most especially those who live in marginalized communities. But through SENDforC's outreach program, students receive a hands-on education from qualified tutors and mentors as they learn how to connect what they know from school to relevant problems in the real world.
